Okay, Doctor Who references stop...NOW.
Bananas are good.
DAMMIT!
The "Getting in Gear" series of journals is temporarily postponed to bring you the following story:
I can't fully describe how awesome this day has been. It all started thirteen hours ago when I woke up, dreading a job interview I had for 1pm. I couldn't concentrate on preparing. I was too tense.
So I doodled.
The doodle became a concerted effort, and before I knew it I had a darn fine drawing going on. It was awesome. I haven't drawn like that in months. I didn't want to stop, but the clock was ticking down to the interview.
Thanks to the drawing session, I had a renewed sense of confidence. I prepared my résumé and reference list, I got all dressed up fancy, and I called a cab. I fretted out in the taxi, but by the time I entered the building it was smooth sailing.
The interview went stellar. I returned home (after calling up Pat to get the number for a local cab company--thanks, dude) and the first thing I did was go straight back to the drawing to finish it up.
Then I just kept drawing, and drawing. I didn't want to stop. It was going beyond well. Later on, I played a little Burnout Paradise and surprised myself by actually dancing around the room to the theme tune "Paradise City." I was just so damn pumped.
Because, you see, I now have a job.
It's strange how self-confidence works. You can't just get it by telling yourself you have it. It just shows up, like it did today, first with the drawing and then with the successful interview. But usually I need to HAVE confidence in order to draw well. So where did it really come from? It's like the chicken and the egg.
I thank God for this confidence, and the fact that the job was there in the first place. It's a neat little shop in Port Chester that repairs video game consoles. I start training tomorrow.
So what does this mean? I can stop wasting most of my free time looking for jobs and worrying about not having a job, and that means more UTC and Fenix Gear pages getting done. I'm actually getting structure back into my life!
P.S.: Those drawings I did today? You'll see them soon, in the form of an inked and (possibly) colored TF sequence.
P.P.S.: I also have to give a public thanks to my buddy Matt for scoring me a JLU Booster Gold figure. (He's very hard to find...almost as if an expert time traveler were helping him stay out of history's way so that nobody would ever know how great a hero he truly is. Hmmmm...)

I'm in Pleasentville for a few days so give my cellphone a call if you want to hang out at some point.
Cheers.

And I never knew I'd be interested in a goat-TF.
